It is the weekend. Tomorrow is Saturday. (Caturday for those in the know) I will probably go on a motorcycle ride in the morning (nice and cool in the morning) on my Yamaha VStar 1100 Silverado Classic... Also known as The Land Speeder. Riding a speeder is really a lot of fun. Do I pretend I'm Luke Skywalker? No, and Sand People don't shoot at me. It's not the speed however, but the acceleration and the cornering that make it fun. That and just being out in the open. Mayhap I'll head out to The Lone Cabbage and have some gator tail. Bikers in Florida are many and with the exception of one or two that I've met, they are a very cool bunch. A good and safe weekend to all and to all... these are not the droids you're looking for. That's The Land Speeder and The Escape Pod. No, I'm not a Star Wars geek. Whatever gave you that idea?
Speaking of robotics... DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Project Agency) is funding something pretty dang amazing. DARPA is pretty much responsible for the intertoobs that we so rely on today. Check out this! Whoa!!1! Can you say freaky?! We do live in interesting times.

Well damn. Today would be 4.5 months on the Appala-chian Trail had I been able to go in March. My life is very different now. I still have that dream but I just don't know when I can make it happen. Oh well. Life. I haven't been very motivated to write lately. CR sits next to the fish tank with his philosophy book... waiting for his next appearance I suppose. I'll get a pic of him checking out the fish soon. He likes watching the fish. I'm sitting next to the person tank now and there is a very beautiful woman swimming. I'm very distracted. She was sitting next to the pool also but suddenly closed her lappy, stripped down, and jumped into the pool. Good timing on my part. No, she's not naked but... small bikini. I like. I suppose I'll sit here until she gets out. Dirty old man. There she is in that pic... just off to the left. Yeah, I know. Not good. Until laters.

This is a mind exercise. Consider the Earth. It's size, it's amazing number of plant and animal species and all the incredible natural wonders that can be found. Let's just forget about man's accomplishments for now. Instead let's concentrate on what is. The Earth. The Solar System. The Galaxy. The Universe. We are all here together on a tiny blue dot in the Universe. When I say tiny, I mean tiny. The Universe in unbelievably vast. In our galaxy alone there are billions of stars. Ours is but one of billions of galaxies in the Universe. It's difficult to comprehend numbers this large. Now here is a (one of many) kicker.... our Universe may be one of an infinite number of Universes. There are a few among us humans whose brains dare to fathom the crazy realities of existence. We are for the most part, primates. We've figured out a few things in our short time here. What is wonderful and exciting is that we have figured out only a very small bit of what there is to know. Look at the picture above and think. Look at the picture and marvel. I find the idea of us being a speck in the Universe thrilling. We have never been nor will we ever be the center of the Universe. If we were then why look to the stars? We are a part of something. We are a part of the Universe and it is beautiful. Google 'Hubble Deep Field' or just click on the above pic and be amazed. Those are not individual stars you're looking at... they're entire galaxies. I am extremely humbled.

Here's CR sneaking up behind the Termi-nator's little cousin. Scared the crap out of him. Robot crap. We were not successful in securing an audience with the governor of Cali. I am BORED! My fault I guess. Only bored people get bored, right? Meh. I'm doing laundry. Don't let it be said that I don't know how to spend a Wednesday evening having fun. Well it's off to the dryer I suppose. Maybe a couple of beers and stare at the idiot box for a prolonged amount of time before bed. Silly negative guy.

I sometimes feel I've missed my calling. I mean... I DID build a robot but that's not what I do for a living. Perhaps I should rethink things. Oh, just so you know, CR isn't here right now. He's watching The Terminator and living vicariously. We did happen to see the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight and it was fabulous. Here's a factoid you may not know... One of, if not THE first word I said as a young lad was Batman. We would pass road equipment and I would point and stutter and finally exclaim BATMAN! Remember this, I do not, but it's one of the things my mother tells me. Well, CR will be back tomorrow (I hope) so we'll chat with you then. Oh, CR wants to meet the Terminator (the nice one of course) so I'm going to see if I can set up a meeting. I'll Be Back!

I went to a CD release party last night for Burt (Bubba the WhoopAss) Wilson. It was awesome. It's crazy that a song about a piano can make you cry. Ahem.... I mean... cough cough... something in my eye. Sorry. I was reading my new book (Rimes with spook) this morning and SOMEONE just couldn't leave me alone. It is my fault I suppose. I've created a monster robot. Insatiable his appetite for knowledge is. Among Star Wars geeks it is really funny how often someone slips into 'Yoda Speak'. Of course I'm sitting here with one of R2D2's good friends so am I a geek or just guilty by association? It is annoying when CR slips into 'R2 speak'. I get confused and think it's time to get up. May the gravity be with you.

CR was conversing with one of his contem-poraries and of course the topic of space travel came up. R2's experiences involve ships with artificial gravity. CR's relatives don't have that luxury at the moment. So we all were chatting about this (gravity) and realized that there was a common misconception surrounding the issue. It is my belief that the majority of people believe that astronauts experience zero gravity/weightlessness. This is in actuality untrue. Stop me if you know this or have heard me ranting about it before. In the interest of brevity we'll only spend a few moments on this subject. Astronauts experience simulated weightlessness. This can be achieved inside the atmosphere in an aircraft such as the C-131 (the vomit comet) and the same physics apply to the astronauts. The difference is the atmosphere as opposed to the virtually friction free flight in space. Here is what really happens... The spaceship (Shuttle, what have you) is never outside of gravity's hold. If this were so, the ship would float (speed) away and never be seen again. The ship is experiencing a continuous fall as it orbits the earth. As it falls the horizon falls with it. The distance between the ship and the earth remains for the most part the same. Can you picture that? The ship is following a parabolic flight path that doesn't end. Now, a true scientist could explain this better than I can I'm sure. Truth is, there is (theoretically) no place in the Universe that you can go and be free of gravity. It's the Force baby, it's what binds us with our galaxy and our galaxy with the rest of the Universe. Very cool stuff. Please correct me if I've misspoken. : ) One last note... CR would like to say hello to his friends in New York. Science my friends, science.

A cigar for CR. Well, to be honest, CR did not enjoy the cigar as much as the beer. I expected as much. Personally it took longer for me to appreciate a cigar than it did to appreciate beer. Give it time Robot... give it time. One of the things that CR and I are both excited about is space travel. Representatives of both our kinds have ventured into space and explored the solar system outside of our earthly confines. Currently only his relatives are exploring Mars. Mine are soon to follow. With that in mind I'd like to share this video. Enjoy you must.

Earlier this evening, I was hanging out with CR. We were chatting and talking about philosophy when he asked me about the beverage I was drinking. I told him about beer. I told him that beer was good for you but the ATF didn't allow beverage companies to extol the benefits of their beverages on their labels. It's a conspiracy I told him. He asked to try some and he actually liked it. Here's a pic of CR contemplating before sampling. He's such a thinker, that one. We spent the evening just chilling out and chatting about the universe. I was also smoking a fine cigar and CR was equally curious about that. I'll save that one for later. Cheers CR!
I was looking at this little robot. He looked to me as if he were staring off into the distance and contemplating. So I decided that he was reading a book on philosophy. That's when he became The Contemplative Robot. He reads. He contemplates. He formulates questions. He remains thoughtful of the world around him yet he is bound by some internal programming to continue the daily drudgery, trapped in this modern day 'society'. Ah, but what adventures await CR? We shall see.
