When I was a teenager I was in love. To this day I have scrapbooks full of pictures of the person I never met but always dreamed about. We watched Charlie's Angels on a small black and white TV and we loved it. My brother and I would kiss the screen when my love was on. Yeah, we were obsessed but we were young and we needed something other than Atari for diversion. I used to tell myself that I would meet her one day. Some dreams are just that. I will remember fondly the years we shared. RIP my love.

The Hubble Telescope

I've been watching NASA TV as the 'Nauts are working on the Hubble upgrade. Holy ma-joly! That is one of the coolest things I've seen. Astronaut helmet cam is freakin awesome! The Hub-scope has changed the way we look at the Universe and has been an amazing boon to science. I can only dream of what new and amazing things that baby will discover. Hubble, I salute you. Here's to many more years of tireless endeavor. Live long and prosper.

I went to Tallahassee to visit relatives over the weekend. It was awesome. I met my 2nd cousin for the first time since he was a few months old and he is a cool dude. This pic is of me and my cousins in front of a very good Mexican restaurant. Thanks for all the fun. We must do it again.

Camping our asses off

So here I am at camp. We found an island near New Smyrna and spent a few days there. We did not catch any fish, not because we suck but because the fishing sucked. Personally, I had a blast. We had plenty of beers and food. We were, however, overloaded and nearly sunk our vessels. Ah the fun of it all. I look forward to our next outing. We will find a new place and we will undoubtedly have a great adventure. I've added some new links in my 'favs'. Check them out. Later.

From time to time I have to let my reader know where I've been just in case I didn't know. Self, I've been away. I broke my arm in a horrific motorcycle accident and was unable to train for the Disney Marathon which I ran anyway and nearly died. All's well.... you know. Here is a pic of me with three weirdoes I found living on a small island in the keys. That's me with the beer. They wanted it but I threatened not to put their pic on CR. Hahaha... I win!

It is the weekend. Tomorrow is Saturday. (Caturday for those in the know) I will probably go on a motorcycle ride in the morning (nice and cool in the morning) on my Yamaha VStar 1100 Silverado Classic... Also known as The Land Speeder. Riding a speeder is really a lot of fun. Do I pretend I'm Luke Skywalker? No, and Sand People don't shoot at me. It's not the speed however, but the acceleration and the cornering that make it fun. That and just being out in the open. Mayhap I'll head out to The Lone Cabbage and have some gator tail. Bikers in Florida are many and with the exception of one or two that I've met, they are a very cool bunch. A good and safe weekend to all and to all... these are not the droids you're looking for. That's The Land Speeder and The Escape Pod. No, I'm not a Star Wars geek. Whatever gave you that idea?

Well damn. Today would be 4.5 months on the Appala-chian Trail had I been able to go in March. My life is very different now. I still have that dream but I just don't know when I can make it happen. Oh well. Life. I haven't been very motivated to write lately. CR sits next to the fish tank with his philosophy book... waiting for his next appearance I suppose. I'll get a pic of him checking out the fish soon. He likes watching the fish. I'm sitting next to the person tank now and there is a very beautiful woman swimming. I'm very distracted. She was sitting next to the pool also but suddenly closed her lappy, stripped down, and jumped into the pool. Good timing on my part. No, she's not naked but... small bikini. I like. I suppose I'll sit here until she gets out. Dirty old man. There she is in that pic... just off to the left. Yeah, I know. Not good. Until laters.

Deep Field

This is a mind exercise. Consider the Earth. It's size, it's amazing number of plant and animal species and all the incredible natural wonders that can be found. Let's just forget about man's accomplishments for now. Instead let's concentrate on what is. The Earth. The Solar System. The Galaxy. The Universe. We are all here together on a tiny blue dot in the Universe. When I say tiny, I mean tiny. The Universe in unbelievably vast. In our galaxy alone there are billions of stars. Ours is but one of billions of galaxies in the Universe. It's difficult to comprehend numbers this large. Now here is a (one of many) kicker.... our Universe may be one of an infinite number of Universes. There are a few among us humans whose brains dare to fathom the crazy realities of existence. We are for the most part, primates. We've figured out a few things in our short time here. What is wonderful and exciting is that we have figured out only a very small bit of what there is to know. Look at the picture above and think. Look at the picture and marvel. I find the idea of us being a speck in the Universe thrilling. We have never been nor will we ever be the center of the Universe. If we were then why look to the stars? We are a part of something. We are a part of the Universe and it is beautiful. Google 'Hubble Deep Field' or just click on the above pic and be amazed. Those are not individual stars you're looking at... they're entire galaxies. I am extremely humbled.

My fault I guess. Only bored people get bored, right? Meh. I'm doing laundry. Don't let it be said that I don't know how to spend a Wednesday evening having fun. Well it's off to the dryer I suppose. Maybe a couple of beers and stare at the idiot box for a prolonged amount of time before bed. Silly negative guy.

I sometimes feel I've missed my calling. I mean... I DID build a robot but that's not what I do for a living. Perhaps I should rethink things. Oh, just so you know, CR isn't here right now. He's watching The Terminator and living vicariously. We did happen to see the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight and it was fabulous. Here's a factoid you may not know... One of, if not THE first word I said as a young lad was Batman. We would pass road equipment and I would point and stutter and finally exclaim BATMAN! Remember this, I do not, but it's one of the things my mother tells me. Well, CR will be back tomorrow (I hope) so we'll chat with you then. Oh, CR wants to meet the Terminator (the nice one of course) so I'm going to see if I can set up a meeting. I'll Be Back!
