Howdy.  Sup fools?

I'm nearing 51 years old.  How freaky is that?  I've recently been up front honest with my dad about my problem with booze.  It's good.  He knows.  He's been there. The probability that no one will read this is high.  I'm probably gonna just put up a boob pic for this...  I'm struggling with my own demons...  but I think I've made some progress.   Y'all be cool!!!

So.   I wish Robin Williams was around to do the Ice Bucket Challenge.  I am profoundly disturbed by his passing.  I didn't fully realize how much I loved him until he was gone.  Perhaps I'm not alone in that.  No.  I don't think I am.

Princess Leia ruined me.

My failure is complete when it comes to relationships.  I've had many.  Lately I've been thinking about all those failures and wondering what the fuck happened.  Beer can be blamed for some.  I came across this picture recently and it seemed to open my eyes a bit.  In 1977 I was 12.  I think I was 13 when we finally got around to seeing Star Wars.  My brother and I were already in love with Farrah Fawcett.  Perhaps it was her that started it all with that red one piece poster.  Still hot.  But as I look at this pic it stirs something in me.  I may have been comparing everyone else to Leia.  How unfair.  Sassy, strong, beautiful, vulnerable.  I've said for many years that I would end up with a woman with dark hairs and dark eyes.  35 years on and I still can't get her out of my head.  Thank you Carrie... I think. Therapy anyone?

Random Star Wars pic that has nothing to do with the post.

So.  Here we are on the verge of a new year.  I have much to say.  We have lost Christopher Hithchens.
I would so like to sit and share a Johnnie Walker Black with that man.  He is the biggest inspiration to my current frame of thought.  He softened at the end, telling young people to remember the 'love part'.  A beautiful man.  No capitulation.  I will strive to be that strong.  Hitch!  I love you man!

Hitch

There is a man I would dearly love to meet.  I feel in a way as though I have.  I've read him, I've listened to and admired him.  In his honor, and I know I won't be the only one, I'm going to buy a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black and celebrate the man.

WTF RD?

Well, Richard Dawkins has stepped in it.  I am disappoint.  Rebecca Watson, stick to your guns!  GO WATSON!  It does suck when the perception of cohesion is lifted and divisiveness is splayed out.  RW, the vast majority of the community has your back, or at least they should.  Those that don't...GTFO!

Ahhhh. Sanity. (Ooohhh... that almost sounds like Satany!)

If there is a God who will damn his children forever, I would rather go to hell than to go to heaven and keep the society of such an infamous tyrant. I make my choice now. I despise that doctrine. It has covered the cheeks of this world with tears. It has polluted the hearts of children, and poisoned the imaginations of men…. What right have you, sir, Mr. clergyman, you, minister of the gospel to stand at the portals of the tomb, at the vestibule of eternity, and fill the future with horror and with fear? I do not believe this doctrine, neither do you. If you did, you could not sleep one moment. Any man who believes it, and has within his breast a decent, throbbing heart, will go insane. A man who believes that doctrine and does not go insane has the heart of a snake and the conscience of a hyena.
– Robert Green Ingersoll, “The Liberty Of All” (1877)

5 G Molly

Years ago I joined the 5 Litre Guinness Club.  A very cool lady at the Dog & Bone started the club and one night it just seemed like the thing to do.  5 litres of G will make you very happy.  Recently my buddy, Bender, and I stopped by the joint to have a few beers.  It's cool that some things don't change.  5G Molly was still there and we had a blast.  Bender and I shot a bunch of darts and some pool and had a fairly copious amount of beer.  We also had to refuse an underage bimbo that thought she could wile us with her womanly ways into purchasing a beverage for her.  We are far too sophisticated for such.  So here we are chillin with 5G Molly and our perfectly poured Gs.  M is practicing for an official Guinness pouring contest which we believe she will win.  Cheers Molly!

The Out Campaign.

Well I'm out. I no more believe in a god than I believe in fairy tales. If faith is such a big part of religion, then it should remain faith and not try to weasel itself under the umbrella of science. I think it's the funniest and most stupid thing believers could have done. 'My faith is so weak on it's own that I need science to back me up.' Hitchens, Myers and Dawkins are awesome and I'd like to thank them along with many others that have kicked my ass and made me look at the world through truly open eyes. Mr. Plait got the ball rolling however and it was through him and Randi that I was introduced to all of the others. It's nice to be out.

Farrah

When I was a teenager I was in love. To this day I have scrapbooks full of pictures of the person I never met but always dreamed about. We watched Charlie's Angels on a small black and white TV and we loved it. My brother and I would kiss the screen when my love was on. Yeah, we were obsessed but we were young and we needed something other than Atari for diversion. I used to tell myself that I would meet her one day. Some dreams are just that. I will remember fondly the years we shared. RIP my love.
